Hi all
Never recorded any Christmas songs before, and yet this year I’ve done three!
Hope you don’t mind another one from me as this is my favourite Christmas record, and my favourite of my three recordings.
‘Happy Xmas - War Is Over’

‘Petticoats Of Portugal’
A lovely little song I’ve never heard until recently.
This was recorded on my Technics GA3. The sounds on this organ are so warm, and the organ operates so smoothly..a joy to play, like the AR.
I hope they last forever.

Hi Peter,

I am thinking of buying an arranger keyboard, specifically the genos to put above my ar and connect via midi. I noticed you have a korg pa4x. What is it like? What has attracted me to the genos is that it has the same style system as the ar, you can create style patterns on drum 1, drum 2, bass, chord1, chord 2, pad, phrase 1 and phrase 2. Something that cannot be done on the Stagea ( can only create chord 1 and 2 as strum patterns.) do you know if the pa4x can do this?

Regards,
Simon

Hi Simon

Here's a link to a site that reviews arranger keyboards which you may find useful.

Hi Simon

I would say that they are both excellent keyboards, with little difference in the superb quality of their sounds.

The Korg got my vote for the following reasons. Build quality - it’s aluminium, not plastic like the Genos, coloured touchscreen, Korg’s free regularly updated styles and other free software, including operating software updates, Style Creator - allows you to create a style in seconds from a midi file, TC voice Helicon built in - allows voice manipulation, price.. I think it’s around £1500 cheaper than Genos. That’s a lot of money to save against a similar spec’d instrument I think.

I can’t answer your sequencer question I’m afraid, it’s  not something I’ve used.
Having said that, I’ve read many times that there is nothing that can’t be done on the Korg if you know how. I think basically it’s a computer, I’m sure you’d feel right at home on it with your skills!
Korg have released many training videos for the PA4, again freely available on line.

Both fantastic instruments. Hard to imagine how keyboards could ever sound any better really than they do today.

Hope this helps a little.

Kind regards

Peter

Hi John/ Peter,

Thanks for the replies, I think I will read up more on both instruments before I decide.

Kind regards,
Simon

Hi Simon,

The latest keyboards that Yamaha have brought out are the PSR-SX700 and PSR.SX900.  If I was buying a keyboard now I would go for the PSR-SX900 as this is supposed to be the younger relative of the Genos.

If you click this LINK below it will take you to Yamaha's European site, and if you scroll down a bit you will see Manuals, on the left.

https://europe.yamaha.com/en/products/musical_instruments/keyboards/arranger_workstations/psr-sx900/downloads.html

There are two you can download, the Owner's Manual and the Reference Manual and they are both worth having a look through.  They should answer your questions about whether or not you can do the things you want to.

Specifically, here below are the direct LINKs to the PDFs, and once up on screen you can download the relevant Manuals.

Owner's Manual

Reference Manual
