John,

I have an AR80 and the gold lettering has long faded into obscurity so please count me in on a set.

Anyone got any ideas about the best way to clean the console surface in preparation for attaching new captions.

A fingerprint expert would be in heaven with my console.

Thanks, Charles Hughes
Im afraid progress is slow but hopefully I'll be back on it soon.

Isopropyl Alchohol is what you need to clean the panel before application.

My problem is the lettering on the Registration Menu Organ Preset buttons.  Those that I use frequently are almost illegible e.g.  Theatre, Theatre USA, Jazz etc.  Any suggestions please.

I used a permanent marker felt tip pen, and wrote directly on them.  Get a fine tip one, of course.
It works well and is relatively inexpensive.

If your memory is anything like mine, you may have to refer to the manual for what they said originally.

Hi Maureen, I am still working on it, it looks like it's going to work, I printed some out on my colour laser printer, the proper ones will be laser cut vinyl printed ones with tasteful colours. I just need time to get back onto it.

Would be interested to know the results.

Hi John,

This thread appears to have gone quiet. Did you get anywhere with the lettering solution?

I have had my AR80 a month now I can’t get off it. I love playing it.

Sadly, the lettering is very worn. This is the only thing spoiling my enjoy of this marvellous instrument.

Any help with the lettering would be much appreciated.

Kind regards

Dave

Hi All,

I'm sorry to say my lettering project stalled. I got to the point where about half of the panel was drawn in Autocad, I have found a suitable sticker maker but just need to finish my engineering drawings. The problem is time, I have been incredibly busy with my drone business for a while now but hopefully soon I can retire and then complete all of the projects I have on my list.

Sorry

John

Peter, I'm interested in possibly trying to do the same as you did and was wondering if you could further expand on your procedure.  The questions I have are as follows:

1: did you manage to include the very top letters without removing the roll top cover?  It's not a problem to remove this but just curious.

2: any particular preparation before using the permanent marker, such as applying a cleaning solution?

3: did you use any particular colour?   I'm thinking white would be more pronounced than the original gold.

4: how well has it lasted since you 'fixed' it?

The lettering on my AR 100 is still legible when using additional lighting but it's not really ideal while playing.  At least I would be able to trace over what's there just now but don't want to leave it too late in case it eventually disappears.

Thanks in advance,

Alistair
